Apart from being IL-1 driven disease, most of them are characterised primarily by fever, but they may also involve the skin, particularly in conditions such as Cryopyrin-Associated Periodic Fever Syndrome, Muckel Wells, the urticaria being a characteristic feature, and of course the musculoskeletal system in conditions such as the neonatal onset multi-system inflammatory disease. And certain inflammatory sites are very specific for IL-1 mediated diseases, such as the serous membranes like the pleural peritoneum, where you get pleuritis, peritonitis, and pericarditis, in Familial Mediterranean Fever. The CNS and the conjunctiva can also be involved in conditions such as CAPS and patients frequently complain of fatigue or malaise and poor sleep (Broderick & Hoffman, 2022; Dinarello 2012).
